Students have been charged to place high priority on the acquisition of relevant skills while in their academic pursuit.

The Resident Pastor of Peculiar Gospel Outreach Ministry, Ibadan branch Pastor Daniel Ayantoye who represented the General Overseer of the Ministry Pastor Joseph Babatunde gave the charge during the graduation ceremony of Free Computer Skills Acquisition Students organised by Peculiar Gospel Outreach Ministry with the technical support of Amit Insitute.

He stated that Skills, especially in Computer Information Technology, is very important to Career Development in the labour market globally. Adding that, as water is important to life, so also is skill to the career of a serious minded person.

“I give glory to Almighty God, for giving us the grace to witness this day. I feel honoured to be standing here before you this hour.

“It is with great delight, that on behalf of the church leadership and good members of Peculiar Gospel Outreach Ministry, Ibadan Church welcome you all to the Graduation Ceremony of Students who successfully completed an Intensive Computer Training of the 2020 Free Skills Acquisition.

“May I therefore take this opportunity to congratulate all our graduands for completing their Training successfully as I rejoice with the parents, guardians, teachers and well-wishers.

“I like us all to appreciate the General Overseer of Peculiar Gospel Outreach Ministry, Pastor Joseph Babatunde for the support, giving such platform and bringing this to you. Also, out of 12 Students that started the training, 5 of you successfully stayed through and will be awarded certificates today.

“At this junction, permit me to state that, the role of Skills Acquisition in contemporary society of today cannot be overemphasized.

“As we all know, the world today is moving speedily from the manual age, to the digital age, where virtually everything is done via computing such as e-commerce which is buying and selling online, writing of exams with the computers, online banking, etcetera. It takes one who has acquired skills in Computer, to survive in such a world, which is why Peculiar Gospel Outreach Ministry in conjunction with Amit has brought this training to you.

“I want to urge all the graduating students, to build on the acquired training by what I call ‘Servicing’ through the continuous use of the computer systems wherever you find the opportunity to. The world of the computer as you have been taught is limitless and has no bound. The level you can utilize it, will determine the level you will get from it.

“Also, I like to note that, the certificate you are receiving today, is a valid certificate that you can tender anywhere either to secure a job, to be Self Employed or any other purpose that you may deem fit as Peculiar Ministry and the Institute that gave technical support is a registered organization under the Corporate Affairs Commission; the only body provided by law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to register organizations.
“As I conclude, permit me to borrow from the words of a popular actor and musician, ‘Clint Eastwood’ “What you put into life, is what you get out of it.”

“Let us endeavor to invest more in knowledge acquisition, in relevant skills and in education as this is the future. Let us remember what the Bible says in Prov. 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” and also in part B of Eccl. 10:10 “Wisdom is the profitable to direct.” He said.
