NECO debunks BECE, SSCE postponement, Releases new Guidelines

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has debunk rumors making rounds on social media that the Council it has postponed the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) due to the prevailing situation in the Country.

The Council in a release on Wednesday, 8th April, 2020, by its Head, Information and Public Relations Division , Mr Azeez Sani, stated that only the 2020 National Common Entrance (NCEE) was postponed due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

“NECO wishes to state categorically that apart from the 2020 National Common Entrance (NCEE) that was postponed indefinitely due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Council has not reviewed any of its remaining examinations, neither is the council contemplating such for now.

“The general public is urged to disregard such fake news, as the Council is monitoring the prevailing situation in the country and will make an official pronouncement on the examinations if the need arises,’’ Sani said.

Meanwhile, the Council has released a new registration and procedure and guidelines for the 2020 June/July Senior School School Certification Examination (SSCE)
