NAPS Commends Oyo Gov. on Improvement of Education Sector

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has commended the Oyo State Governor, Eng. Seyi Makinde on the improvement recorded so far in the education sector since his resumption into office.

NAPS in a statement signed by it National President, Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji and made available to CAMPUS FOCUS on Thursday, 14th May, 2020.

The satatement reads: “The National Association of Polytechnic Students, An apex umbrella association and supreme representative for over 20.1 Nigerian Polytechnic students all around the world under the leadership of her Global President, Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji of the Federal Cooperative College Ibadan, commends the courageous action of Oyo state government in raising the standard of Polytechnic education within the state.

“This is sequel to the courageous step of action taken by the Government of Oyo state under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Makinde, towards the sustainability of the legacy of innovative and technical education within the state owned Polytechnics by provision of more sustainable development amenities to facilitate studies in various campuses, the recent steps taken to rename The Ibarapa Polytechnic , Eruwa after Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, the late Philanthropist and Father of Present Speaker, Rt. Hon.Adebo Ogundoyin, and implementation of standard technological education policy in the State.

“The NAPS President in spirit of magnanimity lauds the working state Government of Oyo for efforts so far towards a distinct management of state Polytechnics and uplifting her standard of operation within the states and call for more support from the state government.

“We will definitely appreciate the His Excellency Governor , if he can give listening hears to the welfarism and needs of Polytechnic students in Oyo state. The Executive Governor need to understand what we’ve been clamouring for in Oyo State and give a quick response to our needs in due time as we pledge our support with the government in providing adequate welfarism to the Students Community in Oyo State, The Global President said.

“The President however furthered in a statement made available to the pressmen on Wednesday 13th, May 2020 that “The Government of Oyo state has been really amazing so far with rapid response to needs of the People in the State in this particular period of time, making the welfarism and needs of people of Oyo State entirety a priority, even identifying with our community of Youths and students during the ongoing pandemic strucking down the National Economy and social well being as we urged them to give more listening ears”

We therefore without reservation of Gratitude appreciate the Government of Oyo state, the members of the State Executive, Legislative and Judiciary arm of the Government for time- to- time responsive attention towards the development of the second largest students’ community in Africa and her for making students interest an utmost priority.

“In conclusion, we charged the state Government and every well meaning stakeholders in the Government to continue making a priority, the interest of mankind, Students in general and the polytechnic students consistency in particular.” The statement added.
