One Akinwumi Akinyemi, popularly known as Obe, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting three female students of the Osun State College of Technology, Ilesha, because one of them rejected his love advances.
Akinyemi reportedly assaulted the victims in the Bolorunduro area of the town on Saturday, July 27, because one of them rejected his love proposal.
Colleagues of the victims, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said many female students of the college had at various times in the past suffered similar harassment from men in the area.
A source close to the victims said the matter was reported at the ‘B’ Division Police Station, Ijamo, Ilesha, on the day the incident happened.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect to PUNCH Metro, the Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Police Command, Folasade Odoro, said Akinyemi was arrested for assault and for inflicting bodily injuries on the victims.
She said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter was concluded.
