Ibom Airport partners surveyors for valuation, management

The Ibom Airport Development Company Limited (IADCL) has expressed it’s readiness to partner the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Akwa Ibom State Branch in the area of valuation and facility management on professional advice.

This is even as the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in the State also commemorated it’s 2024 Valuation Day Activities with a theme, “Importance of Assets Valuation in Financial stability”.

The Managing Director, Mr. Uwem Ekanem made this known when the Executive Members of the land profession led by its Chairman paid him a courtesy visit on Monday

He said, though some of their staffers are members of the body, the company would open it’s doors to professional advices and would also like to work with the group on projects management at the airport.

He explained that, the airport which operates on three tripods; Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul; Cargo and Commercial flights operations both local and internationally is opened to investors in the area of infrastructure development.

Mr. Ekanem, who spoke glowingly on the international wing/facilities at the airport said, Government is already working assiduously to establish an airport city (metropolis) by building a hotel, schools and super stores amongst other facilities to rank it with it’s counterparts anywhere in the world.

He further maintained that, the partnership with NIESV would improve the airport as there are many things to gain from the symbiotic relationship.

According to him, “we are happy to work with you to develop the airport. The idea is to have an airport city and there would be a whole lot to do.

“We will continue to support the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers for professional advice as Government has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“Therefore, we welcome investors to establish their investments that would support the airport, which is easily accessible as a result of good roads infrastructure and other facilities to serve Akwa Ibom and beyond “.

Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, NIESV, ESV. Obot Akpan thanked the Managing Director for the visit saying, they came to register their compliments as part of NIESV Valuation Day activities, to the succes story of the company and; to interact with the management of the company on areas of professional contributions to Ibom Airport Company for sound business decisions towards reaching/sustaining the company’s financial stability.

He said, members of NIESV are Real Estate’s professionals trained and registered under the Nigerian Law to practice the profession which scope covers; land administration, valuation of properties and all assets for various purposes including (IPSAS), insurance, taxation, mortgages, assets register amongst others describing the organization as a dependable business ally to both public and private institutions in the country even in the areas of housing and project development etc.

ESV. Obot Akpan however, appealed to the MD of Ibom Airport Company to collaborate with them in the areas of asset valuation being their core scope and advice towards effective management of the airport facilities for informed business decisions and growth of Ibom Airport.

While appreciating the management of Ibom Airport for the employment of some of their members, urged the management to as a matter of professionalism set-up a functional Department of Estate/Facility Management for professional inputs and effective/efficient management operations.

Others included; engagement of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in facility design and development from the preconception stage, and routine tour of Real Estate’s facilities.
