The former Governor of Katsina State, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema, has officially left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shema made the announcement today following a crucial meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
Accompanied by the current Katsina State Governor, Umar Dikko Radda, Shema’s defection marks a significant shift in the state’s political dynamics.
Meanwhile, analysts speculate that Shema’s move could have far-reaching implications for future elections, potentially reshaping the political landscape not only in Katsina State but also beyond its borders.
A political commentator in Katsina remarked, “The PDP’s influence in Katsina appears to be waning with Shema’s departure. He was a cornerstone of the party, and his defection signals a seismic shift in the state’s political arena.”
With Shema’s defection, the APC gains a prominent figure, setting the stage for heightened political activity and anticipation in Katsina State.
