Why I stopped speaking on political matters- Nollywood actor, Mr Macaroni

Popular comedian Mr Macaroni has disclosed the reasons behind his decision to refrain from commenting on political issues in Nigeria.

Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, rose to fame following his active participation in the #EndSARS movement against police brutality in October 2020.

During the 2023 election period, he voiced his opinions, despite alleged threats to him and his family due to his activism and political stance.

However, Mr Macaroni has recently become reserved regarding political matters.

In a recent interview on Wazobia FM, he explained that he no longer feels compelled to engage in political discussions because those he advocates for perceive him as a troublemaker.

He expressed his observation that even celebrities are hesitant to speak out, citing Nigeria’s peculiarities and the tendency for people to turn against those who speak up for them.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s political landscape, he lamented how involvement in politics often leads to corruption, stating his reluctance to venture into that domain.
