Covid 19: NAKSS lauds FG, KWSG for swift response

By Daniel Ayantoye

The National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) has commend the Federal and Kwara State Government for taking proactive steps in combating the pandemic Coronavirus (Covid 19)

NAKSS in a statement signed by its National President Adisa-Jaji Azeez and Director of Public Relations Abdulmumeen Abubakar; made available to CAMPUS FOCUS on Thursday, expressed concern over the increasing rate of affected people in other countries.

It maintained that, there is need to put more proactive measures in place to curb spread of the disease in the country.

“The incessant rate at which the antihuman ail(corona virus) has sent many people to early grave is dispiriting. The death toll in affected countries keeps increasing, day in day out.

“Moreover, in Nigeria, there had been little cases reported. Though we need to be extra vigilant and fastly swing into action in curbing and exterminating this illness from our terrain

“The so-called infection isn’t only contagious but it easily spreads with any paltry interpersonal gestures. Wherewith, we must give ourselves a social distance.

“We therefore commend the Federal Government for the authoritative directives given to the nerves and vein of all schools in Nigeria, and equally advising the Nigerian students to stay at home and pay obeisance to any given preventive measures.

“Also, we will like to extend our commendation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, though no cases of the virus have been recorded in the state, but the proactive measures of the governor to prevent the deadly virus are worth praises.

According to the statement “With respect to the above, the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS), National Headquarters held a meeting with Technical Committee on COVID-19 Set-Up by the Executive Governor of the State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to consolidate in preventing the spread of the virus in Kwara State.

“The Technical Committee, headed by the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, commended the efforts of the association in preventing the widespread of the virus. He furthered that the state government through the Technical Committee on COVID-19 will make available for distribution across all students areas every necessary materials(hand sanitizers, facemasks and hand gloves) in preventing the widespread of the virus.

“Since, assumably, we do not have the requirements on ground to curing the virus, it’s then imperative for us to go for the ‘prevention’, in order to be corona-impervious.

NAKSS however enjoined students to protect themselves and take preventive measures by staying at home while also observing all healthy precautions.
