Coronavirus: North-West Gov. to shut down Schools

In a bid to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus, Governors of the South-Western States in Nigeria has reached an agreement to shut down schools in their respective states.

The. schools are expected to be closed for 30 days to prevent the spread of the disease.

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari made the announcement in a communique at the end of a meeting of North-West Governors held in Kaduna.

He said that, measures shall be taken in each of the states in consultation with examination bodies to close schools for a period of 30 days starting from Monday, March 23, 2020.

Masari stated that sensitisation campaigns will be carried out in the respective states to discourage large gatherings.

He said Citizens will also be encouraged to uphold personal and environmental hygiene.

The South-West states affected includes Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara.
