As Muslims across Ogun State prepare to celebrate Eid Kabir, the State Police Command has assured residents and visitors of a secure environment throughout the festivities.

In a statement by the States Police Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, for the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamatu, outlined comprehensive security measures aimed at ensuring a peaceful Sallah celebration across the state.

CP Alamatu emphasised the deployment of robust security strategies to preempt any potential security threats.

“Police personnel will be stationed at critical flashpoints and strategic locations such as Onigarri, Odeda, Long Bridge, Alapako, Sango/Ijoko, and others to conduct thorough stop and search operations. This heightened visibility aims to deter criminal activities and guarantee public safety during the festivities.

“Ogun State Police Command has drafted its operation order to ensure a hitch-free Eid Kabir celebration,” stated CP Alamatu.

“We urge residents and visitors alike to cooperate with security operatives deployed across the state.”

In addition to ground operations, the police will collaborate with other security agencies to patrol major highways including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode-Benin highway, and Kara Long Bridge. This joint effort aims to maintain 24/7 surveillance and swift response capabilities throughout the festive period.

Furthermore, the public has been advised to remain vigilant and safeguard their belongings, especially in crowded places such as shopping centres, eateries, and places of worship.

The statement stressed the importance of community awareness and proactive security measures.

“We encourage everyone to be security conscious and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through our dedicated communication channels,”
It affirmed.

“Our social media platforms and emergency hotlines are operational and manned by trained personnel to provide assistance and information.”

As the state anticipates an influx of visitors during the celebrations, the Ogun State Police Command reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment.

CP Alamatu concluded with warm wishes for all Muslim faithful, extending greetings for a joyous Eid Kabir celebration.
