Following the murder of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 22-year-old student of the University of Benin on Saturday, May 30, 2020, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) as well as other Nigerians have demanded justice for the deceased.

Uwa, who was reported to have visited the RCCG, Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill, Benin to read on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, was said to be in the church auditorium when some men attacked her, raped her, hit her head with a fire extinguisher cylinder and left her for dead.

According to the report, a security official at the church found her in a pool of blood and informed his superiors at the church and was thereafter rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she narrated her ordeal.

She, however, died three days after as a result of the injuries she sustained.

The case has however been reported at the Oregbeni Police Station, Benin as NAPS wonder how the 22-year-old student Uwa, who recently gained admission into UNIBEN, was raped and killed in broad daylight inside a church.

NAPS in a statement signed by the National President, Comrade Olalere Benedict and made available to CAMPUS FOCUS condemned the act, describing it as evil and Satanic.

The statement read in part: “We on behalf of the Polytechnics Students, commiserate with the University community for the gruesome rape and killing of UWA OMAZUWA, of Uniben , we demand for justice now.

“In strong terms , we condemn rape . It is evil and satanic.” it added.
