Imode community commissions IT centre, donates bus to school

It was fanfare at the weekend as the Imode community of Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State commissioned an ultra-modern Digital Literacy Centre for the use of students and the public.
The community also presented a 30-sitter coaster bus to its Secondary School as well as laying foundation for the proposed Onimode palace.
In his address, the Onimode of Imode, Oba Joseph Adewumi Dada described the initiative as laudable adding that it will improve the status of the community.
While calling on all Imode indigenes both home and abroad to continue to contribute to the growth of their community, the monarch stated that a community can only experience feasible development when there is collective effort.
Similarly, the President of Imode Development Association, Pastor Joseph Babatunde said the community has placed a top priority on education and ICT in order to impact qualitative education and IT skills on the people of the community.
“Precisely on Saturday May 20, 2017…, we gathered at this Community Secondary School to raise funds for the implementation of various development projects. The proposed projects include a modern IT Centre, purchase of school bus, construction of a befitting palace, erection of police post, amongst others.
I am extremely delighted that we are commissioning two of the planned projects: modern IT Centre and school bus today, while we are also laying the foundation of the palace.  We have also fixed the prolonged electricity problem at this new community. This demonstrates the IDA’s commitment to transparency and judicious utilisation of the available resources at its disposal,” he said.
While appreciating the state government for provision of the building which houses the ICT facilities and transformer, he enjoined the state government to assist the community through the construction of the major road in the area as well as provision of driver for the new bus. He added that the road if repaired will further boost the economic activities in the state.
While advising the student on the need to make judicious use of the facility, Babatunde said
“I urge you students and pupil to imbibe in IT culture as the world has gone digital. Without good knowledge of Information Technology, you may not be able to achieve tangible progress. Embrace the necessary skill and prepare yourselves for a great and rewarding future”
In his good will message the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Oke-Ero, Hon. Rapheal Abegunde Goke congratulated the community for the projects.
Represented by the Vice TIC chairman Hon. Jimoh Awe stated that development of rural community should be given a top priority.
