Be Patient with Tinubu, Bode George urge Nigerians

The former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has called on Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, attributing the slow start of his first year in office to a period of assessing and rectifying the failures of the previous administration under Muhammadu Buhari.

George, a notable critic of Tinubu, appealed to the public to give the president another year to fulfill his electoral promises and implement measures to improve the nation’s fortunes.

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television, George emphasised that Tinubu’s lack of prior presidential experience necessitates an adjustment period, similar to the one former President Olusegun Obasanjo experienced upon assuming office.

During a recent national address in Lagos titled “My Thoughts on The State of Our Country in the Last 25 Years: A Time to Chart A New Direction,” George stressed the need for restructuring Tinubu’s economic team and called for greater transparency regarding Nigeria’s true economic condition.

He underscored the importance of a clear understanding of the country’s economic situation to inform effective policy decisions.

George highlighted Nigeria’s potential as the Giant of Africa, lamenting the country’s failure to meet this expectation since the return of democracy in 1999.

He urged both leaders and citizens to collectively strive to reclaim Nigeria’s esteemed position on the international stage.

In his concluding remarks, George reiterated the necessity of granting Tinubu more time in office before making a comprehensive assessment of his administration’s performance.

He argued that a premature judgment would not accurately reflect the efforts and adjustments being made to address the nation’s challenges.
