“Will he be able to fall in love” – Nigerians react as US surgeon successfully implants pig heart in human

Some Nigerians have reacted following the successful implant of genetically modified pig in a
57-year-old man, David Bennett.

According to a release on Monday, January 10, 2022, the procedure took place on Friday at the University
of Maryland Medical School.

The first historic medical procedure that could one day help solve the chronic shortage of organ donations.

“The patient, David Bennett, had been deemed ineligible for human transplant a decision that is often taken when the recipient has very poor underlying health.” The statement said.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians who took to their instagram, expressed fear towards the effect of the procedure.

One of the social media users identified as donnydo18 said “Will he be able to fall in love again with that heart? Will any lady be able to break his heart? (Can any lady actually
break the heart of a pig?).

In the same vein, chiemela12, said “Pig meat go Begin cost anyhow.”

Similarly, mosesopmex said “the behavior of the person
will be piggery behavior.

As for courage2226 “Wow Pig lifespan is 15-20yrs,Are you thinking what l’m thinking.”

Meanwhile, an instagram user identified as adanmaokereke described the effort as a laudable achievement. She said, “This is a great achievement and we are still here in naija
thinking about yahoo and money rituals. We
need deliverance.”

Also, another instagram user identified as larry99kk said “See wetin oyinbo dey think. Aaah! 2023, IPOB, banditory Buhari, Tinubu,osinbajo… We dey think.
