In a significant achievement, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has signed 5,481 Certificates of Occupancy (Cs of O) between August 2023 and December 2024.
This milestone is a testament to the FCT Administration’s efforts to improve efficiency and transparency in land allocation and management.
According to Mr. Lere Olayinka, the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, the figure is notable, especially when compared to the 8,400 C of O signed by the FCT Administration in 13 years from 2010 to 2023.
Olayinka highlighted that the FCT Administration has made significant strides in streamlining the process, ensuring that land allottees receive their C of O within two weeks of payment.
The spokesman noted that the FCT Administration’s improved efficiency is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. ”
This has changed in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Also, even sourcing information on when a C of O is collected and details of the collector that used to take months, can now be done within 72 hours,” he said.
The FCT Administration’s efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in land management are expected to have a positive impact on the territory’s development. With the improved process, land allottees can now expect to receive timely updates on their C of O status, including SMS notifications when their titles are ready for collection.
