Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is set to benefit from a vocational training institute, courtesy of a partnership between the FCT Administration and the Lombardy Regional Government in Italy.
This development was announced during a meeting between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and President of Lombardy Regional Government, Attilio Fontana, in Milan.
The proposed institute aims to strengthen vocational education in Abuja, with a focus on areas like ICT and other skills acquisitions.
Additionally, the partnership will facilitate training opportunities for Abuja youths in Lombardy .
President Fontana expressed his government’s willingness to collaborate on education and innovation, highlighting Lombardy’s strengths in industry, battery manufacturing, and agriculture.
He also emphasized the importance of software, innovation, and technology in education.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, welcomed the partnership, citing Abuja’s vast fertile land and potential for agribusiness.
He emphasized the need for vocational training to equip youths with employable skills, thereby reducing crime .
The partnership is expected to yield a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon, with President Fontana assuring that his office will prepare the MoU for signing.
The collaboration will also explore opportunities for agricultural development in Abuja.
