Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has congratulated Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on his tribunal victory, affirming his win in last September’s election.
Wike described the ruling as a reaffirmation of the mandate freely given to Okpebholo by the people of Edo State.
In a statement, Wike urged Okpebholo to remain focused on delivering good governance and not be distracted by those seeking power “through the back door.”
He praised Okpebholo’s early steps in governance and expressed optimism that his administration would bring significant development to Edo State.
Wike’s congratulatory message comes after the tribunal dismissed petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties, challenging Okpebholo’s victory.
The tribunal’s ruling has put an end to the controversy surrounding the election, and Okpebholo can now focus on governing the state without any legal hurdles.
As Okpebholo continues his term as governor, he faces the challenge of meeting the expectations of the people of Edo State.
With Wike’s endorsement, Okpebholo is expected to prioritize the welfare and development of the state, ensuring that his administration makes a positive impact on the lives of the people.
