Nyesom Wike, the immediate former governor of Rivers State, paid a congratulatory visit to Abdullahi Ganduje, the new national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Wike, who now holds the position of minister-designate, was warmly received by Ganduje at his residence in the federal capital territory (FCT).
This visit holds special significance as it marks Wike’s gesture to congratulate Ganduje on his recent election to the esteemed position within the APC.
The ruling party took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the news of this visit, highlighting Wike’s supportive gesture towards the new national chairman.
Wike’s involvement and dedication to the APC’s success have been noted in the past. During the presidential election in Rivers State, he is believed to have played a role in advancing the campaign of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement posted by the ruling party, it was stated, “Former governor of Rivers State and minister-designate, HE. Nyesom Wike, paid a congratulatory visit to the national chairman, HE. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at his residence in Abuja.”
This visit comes on the heels of significant changes within the APC leadership. Just a couple of weeks ago, Abdullahi Ganduje secured the position of the party’s national chairman, while Ajibola Basiru, former senate spokesperson, was appointed as the APC national secretary.
These appointments followed the removal of Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore from their roles as chairman and secretary, respectively.
