Salihu Usman, a former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has urged the party’s leadership to suspend Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for shielding former governor Yahaya Bello from the anti-graft agency.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently besieged the residence of Yahaya Bello, who is under investigation for an alleged N80.2bn fraud. However, Bello was reportedly escorted away by his successor, Ododo, and has since gone into hiding.
Reacting to this, Usman, in an interview on Arise TV, described the Kogi governor’s action as an “impeachable offense,” insisting that Bello must face the charges against him.
He stated, “When faced with corruption allegations, Yahaya Bello is evading accountability. As a party, we must demand that he answers these charges.
“It’s even more troubling when our current governor shields Bello from facing the law. If proven, this is grounds for impeachment. Our party should suspend the governor until this matter is resolved.”
