DELTA: The Warri Council of Chiefs has strongly condemned a viral video alleging that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, is involved in illegal oil bunkering, describing it as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the monarch’s reputation.
The Warri Council of Chiefs urged sons and daughters of the Iwere Nation to remain calm, assuring them that they are actively addressing the situation.
Speaking at a press conference at the Olu of Warri’s palace, Chief Ema Eyewuoma, the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom and Chairman of the Warri Council of Chiefs, said those behind the allegations would soon be unmasked.
“We are already on the trail of the masterminds of this despicable act. The air must be cleared, and those responsible will face the consequences,” Eyewuoma stated.
The viral video, which surfaced recently, purportedly showed protesters in New York accusing the monarch of using his firm to engage in illicit oil dealings.
The Council dismissed the claim as baseless, insisting that Ogiame Atuwatse III’s character is beyond reproach.
“Our monarchy has upheld moral and ethical standards for over 500 years. The Olu of Warri is widely respected at home and abroad for his integrity, and we will not allow anyone to soil his name,” Eyewuoma added.
Other chiefs present at the briefing included Chief Anthony Onuwaje (Otsodi of Warri), Chief Brown Mene (Ogwa Olusan of Warri), Chief Eugene Ikomi (Olulaye of Warri and Secretary of the Council), and Chief Samuel Omebeyinje (Olugbo of Warri and Director of Palace Administration).
