Uzodimma deserves second term – Retired Colonel, Obi

A retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army, Chinyere Obi has called on residents of Imo State to support Governor Hope Uzodimma for the second term.

She said the governor performed “wonderfully” in his first term in office and should be given the opportunity to complete the process of “transforming the state into the new Imo we all want to see.”

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Obi stated that the infrastructural development achieved by the Uzodimma-led administration superseded the previous administration in the State.

She said, “We should all understand that it is important for all of us, youth, women and men to support Governor Hope Uzodimma for a second term in office. If you look at what he has done in the aspect of roads and other infrastructure, he has performed wonderfully well.

“Nobody has constructed roads more than he (Uzodimma) has done.  There were places such as Ekeleme area that were no-go areas before but now there is ease of movement. Before you get to Okigwe which would take you between three to four hours before, people move in less than an hour on that route now. Also from Owerri to Okigwe, is now about 20 minutes. He has done wonders and I mean it.

“This is why I said he is good to go for another four years. Let’s allow him to finish the work he has started as he completes the process of transforming the state into the new Imo State we all want to see.

Speaking further on the governor’s promise to facilitate the employment of 4,000 Imo youths in Europe, Obi expressed confidence that the governor would deliver his promises if elected for a second term.

“I think the youth and women should see that they have more hopes in Hope. Remember he recently gave out laptops to youths and he has also promised to secure jobs for 4000 youths in Europe.

This is the development we are talking about. You can imagine 4,000 people, even if it is 2,000 youth, do you know what that means for the state? These youth will go there and later come back to invest in Imo. Families will be relieved and a lot more.”
