Unilorin Shines at National Championship By Chima Osuji The University of Ilorin recently bagged the second position at the just concluded national moot competition organised by the Nigerian Society of International Law, at the Great Prestige Hotel in the capital city of Edo State.

The two-day event which lasted from November 22 to 23, had the theme: ‘Security Human Trafficking and International Law’ as its focal point. The competition was part of this year’s activity to commemorate the 41st Annual Meeting of the Society.

Interestingly, the Unilorin team scaled through the preliminary stage which comprised all Nigerian universities as participants. Only four institutions were shortlisted to take part in the semi final and final stages of the championship after submitting written briefs of argument. In the same vein, the finals featured the University of Ilorin as Applicant and the University of Uyo as Respondent.

Furthermore, Afe Babalola University emerged as the second runner up, with Ambrose Ali University finishing as the third runner up. Justice Olukayode Ola Ogunjobi of the Lagos State High Court presided over the competition, as supported by Dr. Debo Olagunju and Dr. Askia Karibi White. Members of the Unilorin delegation include: Dr. Azubike Onuora-Oguno (Team Coach), Opeoluwa Sanni, Ibrahim Haroon and Hamida Kwajafa.
