UNILORIN Post graduate students seek KWSG For Consideration.

The Postgraduate Students’ Association (POGSASS) University of Ilorin, under the leadership of Comrade Abdullahi Isiaq Toyin, has appealed for consideration as the state government initiates steps to provide palliatives for students of Kwara extractions to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, which has led to hikes in transportation, goods and services.

Isiaq, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Strategy, Media and Publicity, Aliu Ahmad Gold, lauded the AbdulRahman-led administration on policies to address the foundational issues that have over the years hindered the state from achieving its potential, in line with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s transformative agenda to strengthen the nation’s economy.

While declaring their unwavering support for any policies that would be beneficial to Kwarans at large, the POGSASS leadership urged the state government to consider members of its association who are of Kwara extractions as the effect of the fuel subsidy removal is unavoidably heating hard on everyone.

“The Association is delighted to learn about the comprehensive palliative measures put in place by the Kwara State Government to cushion the effects of the removal of the petrol subsidy, especially for students in various tertiary institutions in Kwara State.

“As we are sure that the state government is aware of the pain being experienced by everyone with the indiscriminate hikes in transportation, goods and services, we are deeply concerned with the groaning of our members as a result of removing fuel subsidy.“Consequently,

we urge our student-friendly Governor to ensure that the palliative is evenly distributed to benefit all indigenous students of Kwara state, irrespective of their levels because everybody gets the heat of the subsidy removal.

“The situation on ground is so bad that the people are groaning. Well-kitted men and women have turned to beggars, just to meet up with daily needs as the fuel subsidy removal has, as expected, come with attendant difficulties,” he added.

While pledging that the association shall continue to promote policies, programmes and activities of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration,

Isiaq called for understanding of Kwarans in order to overcome the challenges before the state and hoped for prospects that would be beneficial to the people. He stated.
