UI@75: Providus Bank Deputy MD, Aigbokhaevbo Honored as Ambassador

Deputy Managing Director of Providus Bank, Mr. Kingsley Aigbokhaevbo, has attributed the virtues of integrity, diligence, and discipline he embodies today to his formative years at the University of Ibadan (UI).

Speaking during his investiture as a UI@75 Ambassador in Ibadan, Mr. Aigbokhaevbo reflected on his journey, noting that he came from a humble background where core values were instilled in him.

These values, he said, guided him through his university years, enabling him to remain focused on his studies and avoid negative influences.

During the event, he reiterated his commitment to being a worthy ambassador of the university.

In support of UI’s ongoing development, Mr. Aigbokhaevbo presented a symbolic cheque of ₦20 million on behalf of Providus Bank and announced an additional personal donation of ₦10 million.

A proud alumnus, Mr. Aigbokhaevbo earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan in 1988.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, commended him for his outstanding qualities, which led to his selection as an ambassador of the institution.

Professor Adebowale also highlighted the current funding challenges faced by federal universities, including UI, and emphasised the university’s strategy to engage alumni and well-wishers to generate the necessary funds for advancing its core mandates of teaching, research, and community service.

The Chairman of the UI@75 Anniversary Committee and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Peter O. Olapegba, outlined the university’s ambitious goal of raising $200 million to execute critical projects.

These include enhancing the Endowment Fund, expanding scholarships, upgrading infrastructure, promoting clean energy, transforming research innovations, and supporting staff development.

The event concluded with the university’s Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu O. Saliu, formally decorating Mr. Aigbokhaevbo with the ambassadorial sash and presenting him with a commemorative plaque.
