The Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale has been conferred with an Award of Excellence by the Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan.
Similarly, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Philemon Adeniran was also recognised by the institution during the 2021 Foundation Day Ceremony and Conferment of Awards, in Ibadan on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Speaking at the event, the lead Proprietor of the institution, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, congratulated the Awardees.
Bishop Oke, who was represented by Bishop Abiodun Adeniji stated that the University is positioned to attain greater feat among its contemporaries, this he linked to the remarkable achievements recorded within the last one year.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Julius Oloke, while delivering his speech disclosed that the institution has been granted permanent licence by the Federal Government.
He said, “I wish to bring to your notice that all our courses have been accredited by the NUC.
“Sometime in September this year, the NUC Resource Verification Team came to assess our readiness for the take-off of five new Programmes viz- B.Sc Mass Communication, B.Sc. International Relations, B.Sc. Procurement Management, B.Sc. Software Engineering and B.Sc. Cyber Security. I wish to bring to your notice that the NUC has just given us a nod to commence these five new programmes from the new academic session just taking off.
“This is good news for candidates seeking admission.”
Meanwhile, the Guest Lecturer of the event and former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire has called on all tertiary institutions in the country to prioritise research in order to attain world standard.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Enhancing Quality of University Education through Research and ICT Skill Acquisition in Nigeria’, the Professor of Agricultural Economics, emphasized that University research is a key component to achieving quality education in Nigeria.
He said, “Research culture is very fundamental. It has to be cultivated. In a university settings it is imperative to advise that research culture be intensify.”
Responding in an interview with National Telescope, the VC, University of Ibadan, Prof. Adebowale who was represented by Prof. Peter Olapegba appreciated the institution for the recognition,
He said, “This award is a recognition of Excellence. But I see it beyond that. I see it as a challenge to contribute more to the development of the Society and this university.”
In the same vein, Hon. Adeniran appreciated God for the award adding that he was a foundation member of the institution.
“I have been able to put in a little in my capacity for the birth and for the growth of this university,” he stated.
Present at the event are; Representative of the Provost, Federal College of Forestry, Prof. Adedoyin Dunno Aderounmu, Principal officers as well as staff and students of the University.
