The Registrar of the University of Ibadan, Mr. Ganiyu Oke Saliu, has been awarded the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership in the USA.

This honour is in recognition of his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the growth of the university community and society as a whole.

The oath of allegiance was administered, and the induction ceremony took place, along with the presentation of a certificate, plaque, and congratulatory message from the Institute’s Council.

Key figures at the event included Dr. Samuel Ojo, FCIML, Country Director; Dr. Steve Longe Esq, FCIML, Member of the National Governing Council; and Engr. Junaid Isiak Ademola, FCIML, Southwest Coordinator of the Institute.

Saliu praised the vision behind the establishment of the institute and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Institute and its Council members for the recognition.

He also reflected on his journey, thanking God for the guidance he received from remarkable individuals throughout his life.

He highlighted the influence of dedicated teachers in his primary and secondary education and the strong foundation he gained at the University of Ibadan.

While acknowledging the challenges facing the education sector, Saliu lamented the decline in academic standards, noting that academic freedom has often been misconstrued as an excuse for laziness instead of fostering critical thinking.

Despite these challenges, he expressed pride in being part of the University of Ibadan, where the tradition of academic excellence continues to thrive in both admissions and employment policies.

The registrar assured everyone that he would live up to the trust placed in him and fulfil his responsibilities to both the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership and the University of Ibadan.
