UI Advocates Staff Training in Firms for Efficiency

The University of Ibadan is emphasizing the importance of staff training for organizational efficiency, as highlighted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Peter O. Olapegba.

He stressed that the quality of an organisation is directly tied to the expertise of its staff, which is why the university is committed to continuous training programs.

According to a statement, the DVC stated this at the launch of a five-day workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of 45 teaching and 50 non-teaching staff of the institution.

The event was organised by the MacArthur Grant Liaison Office and the Digital Bridge Institute.

Professor Olapegba stressed that adapting to the ever-evolving workplace dynamics is crucial for long-term success.

He affirmed that the University of Ibadan is renowned for its excellence and that current staff must pass on this culture to future generations.

He also highlighted the necessity of improving digital competencies, urging participants to enhance their online presence to elevate the university’s visibility.

Also, the Director of the Research Management Office, Professor A. S. Jegede, stated that without digital skills, higher institutions would struggle to progress globally.

Mr. Ganiyu O. Saliu’s representative, Senior Deputy Registrar Mr. I. A. Akinbola, praised the workshop’s initiative to bolster staff capacity, emphasizing the critical role of ICT training in today’s educational landscape.

He expressed confidence that the workshop would enhance participants’ knowledge and managerial skills.

Goodwill messages were shared by various university officials, including the Bursar and the University Librarian, with a representative from the Digital Bridge Institute encouraging attendees to maximize the training provided.

The workshop will cover essential topics such as digital skills, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and data analysis using tools like SPSS and Microsoft Power BI.
