The University of Ibadan (UI) has addressed recent concerns regarding delays in the issuance of certificates to its Dentistry and Medicine and Surgery graduates.

The clarification comes after an online report went viral, highlighting issues with certificate collection.

In a statement, G. O. Saliu, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, explained that the university did not withhold certificates but encountered technical difficulties that delayed their availability.

“We want to assure our graduates that the delay was not due to any reluctance on our part. The issue was technical, and we have worked diligently to resolve it,” Saliu said.

He further noted that the university made concerted efforts to address the situation, including reaching out to the relevant licensing boards to advocate on behalf of the graduates. “We are pleased to inform our graduates that their certificates are now ready for collection,” Saliu added.

The University of Ibadan management emphasised its commitment to supporting its graduates and ensuring their progress.

“We would never intentionally impede the progress of our graduates. We appreciate their patience and understanding during this period,” said Saliu.

The management also expressed gratitude to the licensing boards and all stakeholders for their cooperation and concern during the resolution of the issue.
