Two Dies After Stucking in Lagos Diesel Reservoir

A tragic accident occurred in the Oregun area of Lagos on Saturday, resulting in the death of two men who fell into a diesel reservoir.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident, stating that the two victims died despite efforts to rescue and revive them.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the men accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir while working, and the second man attempted to rescue him but also fell in. The incident occurred at the Ikosi-Oregun Road in Lagos.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that the agency received distress calls on its 767 and 112 emergency toll-free lines at 10:37 a.m. and promptly activated its response team.

Upon arrival at the scene, LASEMA officials found the two men in severe condition and administered first aid before transporting them to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, the two victims were pronounced dead.

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the incident scene was being assessed by emergency responders to determine further necessary action to prevent similar occurrences.

The scene has been secured, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

The tragic accident has sent shockwaves through the community, and residents are calling for increased safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
