Elder statesman and former federal commissioner, Chief Edwin Clark, has called for the expulsion of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to alleged anti-party activities.
In an open letter addressed to the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, Clark accused Wike of disrespecting party leaders and engaging in actions that could destabilise the Rivers State government.
He urged the party to form a probe panel to investigate Wike’s activities, citing Section 42 of the PDP constitution, which authorises the national legal adviser to address legal matters on behalf of the party.
Clark expressed serious concerns over Wike’s alleged influence over the judiciary, except the Supreme Court, and his efforts to prevent prominent PDP members from attending crucial meetings.
He warned that if Wike is not expelled, his continued actions could lead to the destruction of the PDP.
This call for Wike’s expulsion has added fuel to the internal crisis brewing within the party, with some members supporting Clark’s position while others defend Wike’s actions.
