Trump Begins Crackdown on Illegal Immigrants, Deports Hundreds

The United States has seen a significant surge in deportations following a directive from President Donald Trump aimed at tackling illegal immigration, with over a hundred individuals being sent back to their home countries in recent days.

This move marks a continuation of the president’s firm stance on immigration throughout his term.

On his first day in office, Trump made clear his intention to tackle illegal immigration head-on, signing a series of executive orders designed to curb the flow of undocumented immigrants.

These orders included declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, designating criminal cartels as terrorist organisations, and challenging the practice of granting automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents.

Additionally, Trump signed an order to temporarily suspend the U.S. refugee resettlement program for four months, further emphasising his commitment to controlling illegal immigration.

The latest round of deportations comes as part of this broader strategy. According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, a significant operation resulted in the arrest of 538 illegal immigrants, including a suspected terrorist, four members of the Tren de Aragua gang, and individuals convicted of sex crimes against minors.

In a post on her X handle, Leavitt stated, “The Trump Administration arrested 538 illegal immigrant criminals, including a suspected terrorist, four members of the Tren de Aragua gang, and several individuals convicted of sex crimes against minors.”

The crackdown also includes deportation flights. On Friday, CBS News reported that two flights carrying deported individuals arrived in Guatemala.

A Guatemalan migration official confirmed that one flight from El Paso carried 80 people, another from Tucson brought in 80 more, and a third flight from El Paso transported approximately 105 individuals.

Leavitt further highlighted the scale of the operation, saying, “The Trump Administration has also deported hundreds of illegal immigrant criminals via military aircraft. The largest mass deportation operation in history is well underway.”

This operation signals the beginning of an intensified effort under Trump’s broader immigration policies to stem the tide of illegal immigration and uphold national security.

The president’s actions are already drawing both praise and criticism, but they represent a crucial part of his ongoing immigration strategy.
