A tragic incident unfolded on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as a fully loaded truck collided with and fatally injured an unidentified man along the Lenuwa Village corridor.
According to reports, the accident occurred on Sunday at approximately 9:55 am when a Mitsubishi truck bearing the number plate KTU209YF veered off course and struck the pedestrian who was walking along the sidewalk.
An eyewitness named Moses recounted that the truck, en route to Ibadan, suddenly lost control at high speed, resulting in the collision with the pedestrian.
“The truck was speeding towards Ibadan when it veered off course and struck the man on the sidewalk. The impact sent the man tumbling into a ditch by the highway,” Moses stated.
He further explained, “The driver and his assistant sustained injuries as well, as the truck flipped several times before hitting the pedestrian. They were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.”
Confirming the incident, a spokesperson stated, “The driver, traveling from Lagos towards Lenuwa Village on the expressway towards the Ibadan direction, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to the tragic accident.”
“All three individuals involved – the driver, assistant, and pedestrian – suffered injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Sagamu for treatment. Regrettably, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital, as confirmed by the attending physician. The deceased’s body has been transferred to the mortuary at Idera hospital.”
