Tricyclist beats woman to stupor in Ibadan

An unidentified commercial tricyclist popular known as Keke rider on Saturday, October 27, 2021 beat up a 30-yr-old woman to stupor in lbadan, the Oyo State capital.

National Telescope gathered that the mother of two boarded the tricycle alongside her siblings and children from University College Hospital, lbadan enroute Bere. The tricyclist and the woman got into a heated argument at Yemetu area before the former pounced on the latter.

Speaking to our Correspondent, the victim’s sister, Abiodun Olarewaju said, the tricycle rider ran away after several punches on her sister face, leaving her with some injuries.

The victim was however rushed to Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Ibadan.

She said, “we entered the tricycle at UCH area going to Bere and we discovered that the Keke began to bend towards one side, so we complained but the tricyclist started insulting us that he is not commercial tricyclist but a mechanic. We insulted him back and told him that he shouldn’t have carried passengers. He thereafter stopped to beat my sister.”

Speaking further, she disclosed that the incident has been reported at Yemetu Police Station.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness who simply identified himself as Lekan said the tricyclist also sustained some injuries after he was bitten by the woman.

“We seated here when we saw the Keke stopped and some ladies came down. They were arguing and we tried to separate them but the keke rider started fighting with one of the ladies and he injured her on the face. The guy was also bitten on the chest before he left in his torn cloth.”

Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso on the incident proved abortive as calls put across to him were not answered and WhatsApp messages were not responded to as at the time of filing this report.
