By Funmi Ojo, OYO

President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday inaugurate the 76.67-km Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso road, marking a milestone in Governor Seyi Makinde’s infrastructure drive.

This was made known in a statement e-signed by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and made available to the NATIONAL TELESCOPE, on Saturday.

According to the Commissioner, the ceremony will take place in Randa, Ogbomoso, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, by 10 am.

The Commissioner said the remarkable feat of the road, named after the late former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, was that it was constructed on challenging terrain, previously traversed mainly by traders and Fulanis on foot.

Prince Oyelade emphasized that this road adds to the extensive list of completed inter-zonal and intra-zonal projects by the Seyi Makinde administration, totaling over 300km, with several others in progress.

Recalling the commissioning of the Ibadan-Iseyin 65km road on June 3rd, 2021, the commissioner highlighted the significance of the Alao-Akala Memorial Expressway, which now enables motorists to travel the 142km Ibadan-Iseyin-Ogbomoso route on state roads exclusively.

Additionally, Prince Oyelade announced the official date for the final burial ceremony of the late Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, scheduled for June 8th, 2024, at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.

The burial committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, includes other notable members such as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, and the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

Among the committee members are distinguished traditional leaders and representatives of the late Olubadan’s family, ensuring a dignified farewell to the revered monarch.
