Tinubu to Host Indian Prime Minister in Abuja on Sunday

In a bid to strengthen ties between Nigeria and India, President Bola Tinubu is set to host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the State House, Abuja.

This was confirmed on Saturday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in 17 years, the last being Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2007.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Abuja on Saturday for the two-day state visit, during which both leaders will engage in high-level talks to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, technology, energy, and education.

As part of the visit, President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will formalize key agreements through the exchange of signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in critical sectors.

Nigeria and India have a long-standing history of partnership, with India ranking as one of Nigeria’s largest trading partners.

This visit underscores the mutual commitment to deepening bilateral relations and fostering growth across both nations.
