President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the National Anthem bill, which seeks to revive the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”

The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a joint sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives on Wednesday.

In his address to the lawmakers, President Tinubu also hinted at the forthcoming 2024 Supplementary bill.

The President’s visit to the National Assembly initially caused some confusion. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas apologised for the misinformation, clarifying that the President’s speech has been rescheduled for June 12, Democracy Day.

Following the President’s assent, he will flag off the recitation of the new national anthem and proceed to other important engagements.
