President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described Chief Ayirimi Emami, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a prominent leader in Delta South Senatorial District, as a critical stakeholder in the Niger Delta, which includes the Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ilaje, and Ndokwa communities.

President Tinubu expressed these sentiments during a working visit to Chief Emami’s residence in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, June 23.

Represented by his Special Adviser, High Chief (Dr.) Dennis Otuaro, who is also the Administrator and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Tinubu praised Chief Emami’s influence and contributions to the region during a consultative stakeholders’ meeting.

The meeting, themed “Fostering, Consolidating, and Collaborating for the Peace, Security, Stability, and Development of the Niger Delta Region,” included interactions with ex-agitators from the second phase of the amnesty programme.

During his visit, Dr. Otuaro emphasised the importance of Chief Emami’s role, stating, “Under this mandate given today on behalf of Atabrata, there is no room for failure.

“Atabrata is a critical stakeholder everywhere among Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ilaje, Ndokwa.

“If you don’t understand where he’s going, ask him, and he will explain to you.”

Explaining the purpose of his earlier stakeholders’ meeting in Warri, Dr. Otuaro highlighted the need for continuous dialogue with camp leaders of the struggle.

“Life is a marathon. I came to Warri for the stakeholders meeting, which was for the camp leaders of the struggle.

“We are engaging with these leaders because of the mandate of peace in the Niger Delta, aiming to sustain national and rural security,” he said.

Dr. Otuaro acknowledged the diverse needs of the Niger Delta’s nationalities, including hunger, accommodation, medical aid, and employment.

He assured Chief Emami that the issues regarding the unpaid allowances and school fees for PAP students, as well as the release of their certificates, would be addressed promptly.

Chief Emami, a prominent APC leader, expressed his support for Dr. Otuaro, praying for his success in fulfilling the responsibilities given by President Tinubu.

He emphasised that successful implementation of these tasks would benefit not only Niger Deltans but also other critical stakeholders across the country.
