Tinubu in Saudi Arabia for Special World Economic Forum

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, landed in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Friday evening to participate in the 2024 Special World Economic Forum on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development.

This marks the second phase of his two-nation tour following his engagements in The Hague, Netherlands, since Wednesday.

With over 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia expected to attend from more than 90 countries, the high-level forum in Riyadh is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Discussions will revolve around actions taken since the inaugural Growth Summit held in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2023.

According to Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Spokesperson, Tinubu and his delegation will leverage the gathering to discuss his Renewed Hope Agenda for the country.

The agenda in Riyadh will address pressing global challenges under three main themes: revitalizing global collaboration, fostering inclusive growth, and catalyzing action on energy for development.

The Special World Economic Forum aims to bridge the growing North-South divide, exacerbated by emerging economic policies, the energy transition, and geopolitical shocks.

Tinubu’s visit to Saudi Arabia marks his second in five months to the Gulf nation, making it his 19th foreign destination since assuming office 11 months ago. His travels have included Paris, France (thrice); London, UK; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Norvo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE; New York, USA; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Dakar, Senegal; Doha, Qatar; and The Hague, Netherlands.
