Tinubu Denies Cabal Influence, Affirms Independent Leadership

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has affirmed that he had no sponsors or external influences in his journey to the Presidency, emphasising that his victory in the 2023 general election was a result of divine intervention, meticulous planning, and diligence.

During a meeting with a delegation of Islamic leaders led by Sheikh Bala Lau at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu declared that no cabal dictates his administration’s policies.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the President assured Nigerians that the ongoing economic reforms are free from manipulation by interest groups.

“I have no cabal. I have no sponsors. The money I spent on the elections was my own.

“At some point, the odds were against me; banks were locked. But Allah, the Almighty God, said I will be President. My duty is now to follow His guidance,” Tinubu said.

The President stressed the importance of a clear conscience as a defense against corruption and urged citizens to focus on teaching future generations the values of good and responsible citizenship.

He also addressed the planned youth protests, warning that they could spiral into violence and hinder national progress.

He remarked, “The sponsors of these protests do not love our country. They have no understanding of true citizenship and hold alternative passports. They convene virtually across the globe, spreading anger and hatred.”

Tinubu called for caution against premature politics driven by hate and anger, stressing that Nigeria must avoid the turmoil seen in countries like Sudan.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to reworking the social welfare scheme to reach grassroots levels, ensuring support for the poor and vulnerable.

“We are re-establishing connections with local wards to provide allowances to the needy.

“Our focus is on alleviating hardship and prioritising the future of Nigerian children, teaching them the essence of good citizenship,” he said.

The President’s statements come amid ongoing efforts to address economic challenges and implement reforms aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Tinubu’s administration has been under scrutiny for its approach to economic policies, with some critics alleging that powerful interest groups influence decisions.

However, Tinubu’s strong denial of any external control highlights his commitment to independent governance and transparency.

He reassured the public that his administration’s actions are driven by a genuine desire to serve the nation and its people.
