Tinubu Arrives in S’Arabia for Joint Arab-Islamic Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ahead of the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, set to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024.

The President touched down at King Abdulaziz International Airport at 10:00 a.m. local time on Sunday and was warmly received by the Deputy Governor of Riyadh, Prince Mohammed AbdulRahman.

Tinubu’s visit to Saudi Arabia comes at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

He is expected to participate in discussions focusing on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, particularly the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that President Tinubu will deliver a key address on the situation in Israel and Palestine.

He is expected to call for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict, with a strong emphasis on the need for a two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace.

Joining the President in Saudi Arabia are several key Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed.

After the conclusion of the summit, President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja.
