Three Ways to Report Loan App Harassment – FCCPC

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has provided guidelines for Nigerians facing harassment from loan apps.

In a statement on Saturday, the FCCPC outlined steps for consumers to report unfair practices by digital lenders.

With the rising popularity of online loan apps in Nigeria, many borrowers have turned to them for quick financial assistance.

However, some lenders have resorted to unethical practices, including sending defamatory messages—sometimes with borrowers’ personal photos—to their contacts when payments are delayed.

These actions have led to job losses, reputational damage, and psychological distress for many victims.

To address these concerns, the FCCPC has reaffirmed its commitment to consumer protection and urged Nigerians to report any form of harassment from loan apps.

How to Report Loan App Harassment

  • Email: Send complaints to contact@fccpc.gov.ng.
  • Social Media: Send a direct message to FCCPC on X (formerly Twitter).
  • Website: Visit fccpc.gov.ng, go to the “File a Complaint” section, and submit details such as:
    • Name of the loan app
    • Contact information
    • Loan amount
    • Description of the harassment

The FCCPC assured Nigerians that all reports would be investigated and appropriate action taken against defaulting lenders.
