In a recent incident on the newly refurbished Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State, an 18-year-old has been apprehended for tampering with LED road stud lights designed to enhance road visibility.
The suspect, Mubarak Abdullahi from Makoko, had already removed 10 LED road stud lights from the bridge before being apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) around 10:00 AM on Friday.
This arrest follows directives from the Commander of the RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to intensify patrols on the bridge.
The aim is to protect both the infrastructure and road users from vandals.
This incident is reminiscent of a similar case last month, where a 46-year-old man, Friday Nwafor, was arrested by the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) for committing a similar offense on the bridge.
The public is urged to collaborate with law enforcement agencies in preserving public infrastructure and ensuring safety on Lagos roads.
