The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the successful restoration of electricity to Damaturu in Yobe State and Maiduguri in Borno State.
This milestone follows the repair of the 330kV Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri transmission line.
In a statement released on Friday by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, it was confirmed that power was fully restored to the Gombe-Damaturu line on Wednesday, October 30, at around 7:25 PM.
Partial supply to the Damaturu-Maiduguri segment was established the following day at approximately 2:01 PM.
This restoration comes after the vandalism of tower 372 along the transmission line on September 22, which necessitated repairs. The tower was rebuilt, and the line stringing was completed on October 23.
While TCN faced delays in restoring bulk power supply due to additional vandalism on the Ugwuaji-Apir line, full power supply along the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri line has now been achieved.
TCN is urging the public to help combat vandalism of electricity infrastructure to ensure a reliable power supply for all. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities around transmission installations to the appropriate authorities.
