TASUED Rusticates 25, Suspends 58 Students

Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), located in Ijagun, Ogun State, has taken severe disciplinary action against 83 students following various offenses.

Twenty-five students have been rusticated, while 58 others face indefinite suspension.

The infractions include forgery, threats to life, examination malpractice, and other forms of fraud.

Mr. Dapo Oke, the University’s Registrar, revealed this decision in a statement released on Tuesday.

The sanctions were proposed by the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee and subsequently ratified by the University’s Senate during its meeting on July 31, 2024.

According to the statement, the students involved are required to stay away from campus. The statement further emphasized that any student who disregards this directive will be dealt with by law enforcement and university security.

The statement detailed, “The Senate’s decision on July 31, 2024, includes the rustication of Ojo Micheal, a 200-level Computer Science student, for forgery related to his CGPA in a bid to contest Student Union Elections.”

It also noted, “Seventeen students were rusticated for examination malpractice, five for issuing threats, and one for fraudulent behavior. Additionally, 47 students have been suspended indefinitely for general misconduct, while another ten faced suspension for impersonation.”

The statement concludes by advising the affected students to comply with the directive to avoid any confrontations with campus security.
