The Kano State Police Command has arrested three individuals, including the wife of Ahmad Adam Abba, a suspected Chadian terrorist allegedly behind last week’s foiled terrorist attack during the National Tijjaniyya Maulud ceremony in Kano.
The suspects arrested include Abba’s wife, 42-year-old Jibrin Mohammed, another Chadian national, and a Nigerian man who reportedly provided accommodation for the terrorists.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, briefed the press at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, stating that Ahmad Adam Abba, the wanted terrorist, was responsible for the killing of 17 people in Chad before fleeing to Kano.
“The suspect, Ahmad Adam Abba, had masterminded the killing of 17 people in Chad before relocating to Nigeria,” Garba said.
“We had previously issued a security alert on 24th January 2025, urging the public to be cautious and report any suspicious individuals or activities following intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists in the state.”
The Commissioner further revealed that the police, acting on intelligence, recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during their investigations.
He confirmed that the terrorist, who had been planning to establish a base in Kano, managed to escape the country. However, the police successfully apprehended three of his associates, including his wife and Mohammed, and a Nigerian accomplice.
“They were arrested after a thorough investigation and intelligence-led operation. They are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing,” Garba added.
Garba also assured that the police had dismantled the Chadian terrorist’s network in Kano and were actively neutralising any remaining threats while intensifying efforts to gather more intelligence in the area.
