Sultan Declares Sunday Eid-el-Fitr

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has announced that Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be observed as Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The declaration was made by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, during a live telecast on Saturday night.

The Sultan’s announcement follows the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon in various parts of the country, including Borno, Zazzau, Dutse, and Maru .

This significant event marks the beginning of the new Islamic month of Shawwal and the end of Ramadan.

In his statement, the Sultan congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to sustain the virtues of patience, piety, and charity beyond the holy month .

He emphasized the importance of upholding these values in daily life.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also extended his goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah, calling for continued unity, tolerance, and prayers for national progress.

Security agencies have assured citizens of adequate measures to ensure peaceful celebrations.

As Muslims across the country prepare to gather at Eid grounds and mosques for the special Eid prayer, the Sultan’s declaration serves as a reminder of the significance of this holy day and the values that it represents.
