The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres against registering candidates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at night, citing safety and security concerns.
According to Dr Fabian Benjamin, Public Communication Advisor of JAMB, the Board has noticed a worrying trend of nocturnal registrations at certain centres, which compromises the personal safety and security of candidates.
The Board is taking this step to ensure that candidates are protected from potential harm.
“While the Board appreciates the enthusiasm of these centers to accommodate as many candidates as possible, this should never come at the cost of the candidates’ personal safety and security,” Dr Benjamin stated.
The Board has identified several CBT centres that have been engaging in nocturnal registrations, and has warned them to desist from the practice.
The affected CBT centres include Thomas Adewumi University, Kwara State; CBT Centre Otukpo, Benue State; Ebenezer International School, Rivers State; Jigawa State College of Education, Jigawa State; and Lafiagi Emirate Information Technology & Innovation Hub, Kwara State.
JAMB has urged these centres to prioritize the well-being of candidates over profit margins, emphasizing that it will not tolerate any violations of registration regulations.
In a related development, JAMB has addressed allegations of admission irregularities, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring fair and equitable selection through transparent ranking based on performance.
The Board has implemented a robust communication system, the Ticketing Platform, to facilitate clarification and resolution of grievances.
JAMB has also cautioned institutions against disclosing confidential information to the public or media.
With the 2025 UTME registration ongoing, JAMB has set a deadline of March 8th, 2025, for the registration process.
Candidates are advised to register at accredited CBT centres and avoid nocturnal registrations to ensure their safety and security.
