Southern Nigeria Students setup Covid-19 Committee, Condoles with Buhari over Kyari’s Death

In a bid to support the ongoing fight against the spread of world pandemic Covid-19, Students from Southern part of Nigeria under the aegis of Association of Southern Nigeria Students (ASONIS) has setup Covid-19 committee.

The association said this in a statement dated 18th April, 2020, signed by it’s National President, Comr Edeh Elijah Chinedu and PRO, Comr. Awodola Oluwaseun Samuel and made available to CAMPUS FOCUS on Sunday, 19th April, 2020.

According to the statement, the committee is saddled with the responsibilities of raising funds for radio sensitization as well as other palliative measures for the public.

ASONIS, in the statement, also condoled with President Muhammadu Buhari over the death of his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.

The statement read: “The Association of Southern Nigerian Students extends her deepest sympathy to the President and other cabinets of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the entire family of Late. Chief of Staff to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Abba Kyari. May His Soul Rest in Peace.

“In a bid to joining others in fighting the Covid’19 pandemic. ASONIS at its national level set to join others in fighting the pandemic hereby creating a virus free society and also helping the less privilege as well as the poorest of the poor in getting certain incentives such as food stuffs to uphold them during this trial.

“The leadership of ASONIS at its apex however has formed a committee (ASONIS COVID’19 COMMITTEE) which would help in putting and raising funds to addressing issues as related to the focus of full radio sensitization as well as other palliative measures.

“Comr. Rafiu Azeez Oladele has been appointed as The Chairman of the committee while Comr. Ayodele Francis Oluwayomi has been appointed as the secretary.

ASONIS also said “The Above association also uses this medium to make it known to the general public on its appointment of Comr. Ikenna Kingsley U. as the Chief of Staff to the ASONIS National President on the 17th of April, 2020.

“Lastly, We use this medium to appeal to the general public to ensure you follow all safety measures in preventing this dreadful virus.” It added.

ASONIS is the umbrella body of students in the following Southern States of Nigeria: Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross-River, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Ekiti, Lagos, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Oyo.
