Joseph Yakubu, a 29 year old man has been apprehended by the Plateau State Police Command for killing Yakubu Dalyop, his Father with a pestle during an argument.
The incident happened at the Anglo-Jos-community, Jos of South Local Government of the State. The Plateau Commissioner of Police, Hassan Yabane while addressing the news men on Tuesday, disclosed that Joseph was among other suspects nabbed for various illegal acts in the community.
He said, “On 20/02/2024 at about 6pm, information was received at the Anglo-Jos division by a good Samaritan that on 15/02/2024 at about 8pm, one Joseph Yakubu, male, 29yrs of Kambel Anglo-Jos had a minor misunderstanding with his father, one Yakubu Dalyop aged 49yrs.
“As a result, the son took a pounding pestle and hit the father on the head. The father became unconscious and was rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
“Unfortunately, he died on 19/02/2024 at about 1pm while receiving treatment. The suspect has been arrested while the corpse was deposited at the same hospital mortuary (Punch)”
However, the commissioner said the case is still under investigation, that the suspect would be brought to book for justice while assuring adequate protection of lives and properties in the state.
