Sokoto Lawmaker Denies Involvement in Kidnap, Murder of District Head

A lawmaker representing Sabon Birni North Constituency in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Aminu Boza, has refuted allegations linking him to the recent abduction and murder of the District Head of Gatawa, Isa Bawa.

Boza strongly denied any connection to criminal activities or involvement with bandits, reaffirming his commitment to combating banditry in his community.

In his statement, he declared, “I am publicly stating that these baseless accusations will not deter me from my mission to fight against banditry. We must stand united to eradicate these criminals and achieve lasting peace.”

He continued, “I have always maintained that there should be no negotiations with bandits. These criminals cannot be trusted. I am fully aware that this fight will not be easy, but even if it costs me my life, I would be at peace knowing I did everything within my power to protect my community.”

Boza’s comments came in response to allegations made by the son of the late District Head. The son, who was also kidnapped but later released, accused Boza of collaborating with the bandits. In a video recorded from his hospital bed, the son claimed that the bandits told him Boza provided them with information and paid them N5 million to carry out the abduction.

According to the son, the bandits said they were unfamiliar with the District Head but were hired during the election period to kidnap him.

In a viral audio clip, Boza categorically denied the allegations, insisting he has no ties to criminal elements and has been actively fighting against banditry.

Reaffirming his stance, he said, “I have consistently urged the government not to engage in negotiations with these bandits. They are criminals and must be treated as such. If standing up against them leads to my death, I would embrace it knowing I fought for peace in my community.”
